Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to successfully present and defend their own scientific work. In the course of the seminar, topics of the individual students are presented and discussed in order to support the participants in their research projects as well as to give them an opportunity to network and exchange ideas.

Subject of course

  1. Scientific literature review on a topic relevant for the doctoral thesis
  2. Transformation of the literature review into a review paper
  3. Presentation of the reveiw paper in the seminar and discussion with peers
  4. Usage of the review paper for a scientific publication in the context of the thesis

Teaching methods

Students receive support on the selection and preparation of literature, feedback on their presentations and input on their research in scientific discussions.

Additional information

The course correponds to 2 ECTS (=50 hours). Approximately 30 hours will be dedicated to research and getting acquainted with the literature, and 10 hours are allocated to the final presentation including preparation.  Approximately 10 hours are scheduled for individual meetings with the supervisor and counseling.

Both PhD students of our own group and from outside are welcome to attend.
