  • conduct a state of the art (literature) research with respect to a given problem specification and categorize its results
  • analyze the found scientific approaches and results and to discuss them in a seminar paper
  • present and discuss these scientific solutions and results

Subject of course

Seminar on special topics in the area of media informatics with a focus on Information Visualization (InfoVis), Visual Analytics, and Information Design.

Teaching methods

Within the context of the seminar, the student is guided by individual supervision to independently work on the given problem. This includes...

  • a literature research on possible solutions for the given problem
  • a critical analysis of the approaches found
  • a derivation and discussion of results in the form of a written seminar paper

Another important part of the seminar is exercising "presentation skills" in the context of the final presentation of the work.
