Aim of course

Get acquainted with and critical assessment of scientific literature and methodology.

Subject of course

Seminar on special topics in the area of media informatics with a focus on Information Visualization (InfoVis), Visual Analytics, Information Design and Music Information Retrieval.

Didactics/Method:

In the course of the seminar the students will be supervised individually to get acquainted with literature research, critical assessment, and presentation of scientific content in form of a seminar paper. Another important part of the seminar is the training of presentation skill by giving seminar talk.

    Thematic Focus: In this seminar we want to conceptually analyze  Music Information Retrieval Systems from different perspectives and, according to the interests of participants, prototypically realize and evaluate new concepts ranging from collaborative search to tangible interfaces. A specific focus lies on Benchmarking Campaigns and Evaluation principles in Multimedia Retrieval.
