Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to analyse an individual problem in the field of Virtual- and Augmented Reality, to design a solution and to implement a prototypical application or artefact.

Subject of course

Advanced Topics in the area of Virtual and Augmented Reality will be studied by students in theory and practice. Topics include but are not limited to: working with latest VR gear /Vive, Oculus, LeapMotion, Perception Neuron, Virtualizer), Tracking and Motion Capturing, 3D Interaction, User Interfaces, Perceptional illusions in VR, Rendering in AR, Hardware accelerated methods, ..

Teaching methods

In the first phase a short written concept of the application is to be provided, which is discussed then with the course leaders. In the second phase, the hardware and software of the application is designed and implemented. Suitable laboratory equipment is available for the implementation. In appointments with the course leaders, appropriate feedback can be obtained. In the final phase, the application or prototype will be evaluated or demonstrated and a short demo video will be produced.
