After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

• to prepare an initial draft of a project plan for a software development project
• evaluate the use of different software development methods
• to structure and write a project proposal for software development projects
• to effectively carry out the tasks assigned to them within the team

During the lecture, the following aspects of the management of software projects will be covered:

• Characteristics and classification of a project, kinds of projects
• Project planning and controlling: work breakdown structure, work packages, Gantt diagrams, network planning technique (precedence diagram method) various tools, considerations on the correct amount of documentation
• Effort estimation and cost calculation
• Forms of project organization
• The role of teams and project personnel: selection, motivation, education
• Quality assurance and risk management

In parallel to the lectures small teams will plan their projects and present them during a final presentation.

• Joint and step-by-step preparation of a project application for software development projects in the exercise section
• Teaching of software project management knowledge in the lecture
