Aim of course

The goal of this course is the theoretical and practical application of Semantic Web technologies for solving problems in computer science and other related disiplines. The course will strengthen the understanding of the application of advanced Semantic Web approaches, and furthermore allow a better evaluation of the practical applicability of such technologies in both safety-critical environments (e.g., air traffic management or production automation) as well as in the software engineering application domain (e.g., requirements management). This course is a recommended next course after the introductory course 188.399 Introduction to Semantic Web, which covers the basic Semantic Web technologies. This course focuses on advanced topics including Ontology Modeling with OWL2, the use of Ontology Design Patterns, the evaluation of semantic knowledge structures such as Ontologien/Knowledge Graphs, various types of Semantic Web applications (e.g., ontology based data access, semantic search), and techniques for data integration such as ontology mapping and alignment.
