Evolutionary development of an interactive and tangible system. This course teaches to generate ideas, evaluate context and designs and define design ideas. Along a defined, but open topic, student learn to handle the complexity of a design process and implement design.

In detail, the course aims at¿

• Understanding and implementing qualitative research methods with requirements for ideas and design.
• Learning and applying techniques for analysis and exploring with experimental design methods.
• Implementing in design teams with defined projects.
• Elaborate present research and design results by reflecting on used methods and created designs.

The teaching team recommends visiting the accompanying seminar "Seminar of Media Informatics" (187.A40) in the same semester to deepen the theoretical discourse and reflection.

The course consists of teamwork (groups of students) along an open topic e.g.: mobility, guided by selected theory, methods and techniques. Students built design teams of maximum 4-5 participants. The teaching team holds lectures for each method and techniques, provides examples and additional material (e.g.: method handout) and moderates each design team. Accompanying the design practice are student presentations (to show the group results), evaluations of the findings and reflections on the methods.

The course grade is formed by the design and implementation of all the methods and techniques explained in the course, taking into account the 3 presentations and the analysis of the results. Precondition for a positive grade is to be present and participate on the course dates. The grade is given by the teaching team.
