After successful completion of the course, students are able to demonstrate a knowledge and sound understanding of the making and the use (as well as the related consequences) of technology (including ICTs) in the modern world
- in order to foster the understanding of the social embeddedness of technology
- framed and informed by perspectives from the history, psychology and sociology of technology
Social context of technology development and use; technology and social change; consequences of the use of (new) technologies for work, organizations, and everyday life; the interaction of technology with institutional and cultural contexts.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION in light of the current events (actions that have been taken to contain the spread of corona virus disease):
Due to the exceptional situation we are faced this semester in the wake of the actions that have been taken to contain the spread of the corona virus disease, the organisation of the course “Sociology of Technology” will be modified. In particular, there will be no meetings at TU Wien (at least for the time the above mentioned measures will remain in force). (Please keep the scheduled dates of the course sessions in your calendar - for any eventuality).
