Aim of course

To plan and carry out project-oriented research using field work and creative design methods. Skills: ability to use a whole range of research and design methods; ability to engage with users in creative ways; ability to perform in-depth conceptual work before implementing a design.

Subject of course

Methods: Literature research, video supported observation and video analysis, expert interviews; transforming research findings (design materials) into design ideas.

Additional information

Students (in groups)select their research topic, develop a research design, carry out their research, present their findings (presentation of intermediate and final results) and develop 2-3 design ideas which will serve as starting point for LU Experimentelle Gestaltung 2. Required knowledge of interview techniques, ethnographic research and participative methods
