After successful completion of the course, students are able to describe the basic variants of membrane systems and to give suitable examples as well as to describe the main derivation modes for membrane systems.
Actual topics in Membrane Computing. Study of recent papers in the area of Membrane Computing. Discussion of these topics during the lecture. Search for literature. Presentation of selected papers.

Based on state-of-the-art research papers, especially on papers having appeared during the last three years, as well as on the Handbook of Membrane Computing (appeared 2010), as a special part of the exam the students will give a talk presenting specific results to the rest of the audience.
