Aim of course

This course provides an overview of current Grid Computing (GC) technologies, standards, and concepts. The students should adopt basic GC knowledge necessary to apply GC in different application areas, e.g. in life-science.

Subject of course

The lecture comprises theoretical Grid Computing basics, GC tools, middleware, and Grid workflow systems, including: - Overview of High Performance Computing (HPC), Grid Computing, Global Distributed Computing, and Voluntary Computing - Grid Architectures - Grid Resource Management - Web and Grid Services (OGSA, WSRF) - Resource Provisioning in Grid - Grid Workflows

At the 30.3.2009 there is going to be a kickoff meeting for this year's course. Please attend if possible, since all organization details are going to be discussed there.
