After successful completion of the course, students are able to unlock and structure the content of documents such that they are comprehensible to computer systems. This includes Optical Character Recognition (OCR), Handwritten Text Recognition (HTR), Layout Analysis and Writer identification as well as preprocessing stepd in order to make the subsequent analysis possible. The lab exercise deepens the understanding of the algorithms used.

Two tasks have to be solved by groups of 2 students, and include a written report as well as a final presentation of the results.

Both of the partners must be registered with the course in TISS!
