After successful completion of the course, students are able to apply the following knowledge and skills in an improved way:
A given practical problem shall be worked on. Group work is possible, provided the individual tasks are clearly separated. Several examples for problems can be found on our homepage. Own suggestions are encouraged (as they fit to the main fields of interest in our department).
Didactic concept: In a personal meeting with your advisor the task is specified and the title agreed upon. Furthermore it is checked whether your prior knowledge meets the requirements. You regularly inform your advisor about your progress and encountered problems (in case of severe problems please contact your advisor immediately, rather than waiting for the next appointment). Towards the end of the practical part, you discuss the structure of your written report with your advisor (it is useful to prepare a proposal for a table of contents for this purpose), as well as the oral presentation where the result is demonstrated, if possible.
