Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to

  • understand the tasks, positioning, and functionality of ERP systems;
  • understand concrete customer requirements and independently formulate implementation approaches;
  • to implement an ERP system practically;
  • to recognize connections between lived processes, theoretical modeling, and practical truth;
  • understand the relationship between business management and the IT tools used.

Subject of course

The following contents will be treated

  • process modeling and process circuits 
  • process analysis and rating (benchmarking) 
  • workflows and further IT tools supporting processes 
  • deepening the understanding for realization and basics of ERP systems proceeding from the ERP Systems course
  • strengthening the business economics knowledge in regard to value creation and balancing 
  • analysis of classical end to end process models 
  • practical study of standard processes within several modules of a widespread ERP system (logistics, accounting, supply chain, production, customer relationship management) 
  • practical discovery of important organizational structures and arrangement of relevant processes 
  • elaboration of the value of workflows by example of supporting processes within ERP systems (reporting of generated business models) 

 Didactical approach

The course is based on knowledge gained within the ERP Systems or EEBIS course taught at TU Vienna. After studying theoretical base knowledge, integrated exercises can be completed via an internet connection on a live ERP system.

  • Testing different implementation approaches of an ERP solution for a model company in small groups
  • Discourse in the LVA
