Aim of course

Understanding and mastering fundamentals of digital systems

Subject of course

The course includes:

  • Representation of numbers in computers
  • Fundamentals of coding theory
  • Fundamentals of information theory
  • Fundamentals of Boolean algebra and minimal forms
  • Moore and Mealy machines

Learning activities comprise lectures, assignments in large and small groups (which will be graded and discussed), as well as two written exams.

Examination modalities

To pass the course successfully it is required to solve a certain number of homework exercises, and to get a positive assessment for the presentation of solved homework exercises during classes. In addition, a positive assessment of two written exams is required.
