After successful completion of the course, students are able to submit their own scientific paper to the Computer Vision Winter Workshop(CVWW) and present their work either as oral or as poster presentation. In this way they experience a complete cycle of a scientific publication in reality.
General: Principles of Scientific Communication, assess and discuss the state of the art in a subarea of computer vision, communicate and discuss the concrete results in a lecture unit and/or submit to a scientific workshop.
Concrete topics will be adapted to the state of the art.
Working out a concrete scientific problem.
Discussion of alternative solutions with pros and cons.
Writing a scientific contribution to be submitted for peer-review.
Presentation of the paper within the scope of CVWW or in one lecture unit at the end of the semester.
Course for Master and PhD Students (efforts may vary depending on the capabilities of the student):
25h: developing the paper concept+lecture units
25h: project+writing scientific paper under supervision
5h: submission to CVWW or equivalent workshop before the deadline
12h: discussion of reviews and revision
8h preparing slides and presentation of the paper at CVWW
Oral and written presentation of the scientific paper.
