After finishing this lecture you will be familiar with fundamental methodologies and techniques of project management. In addition you should know about soft skills and project management tools which are essential for a successful project manager. For a better understanding of the theoretical content, some practice-oriented case studies will be discussed in the lecture.

The lecture will cover the following aspects of project management:

• Definitions, methods and approaches
• Characteristics and classification of a project
• Types of project organisation
• Phases of a project, including planning and controlling
• Quality and risk management in projects
• Formation of Teams and the role of team members
• Estimation of efforts and costs
• Communication and documentation in projects
• Project management tools - Special topics
• Case studies
