Internet Security gives an insight into IT security topics which are important for large networks like the Internet. In the course of this the employment in practice is emphasized, e.g. by inviting guest-lecturers with many years of experience in large IT infrastructures. In the exercises, which take place mainly in groups, the topics of the lecture get extended and deepened.
The topics of the lecture are among others *) application security *) network security *) operating system security In the lectures different IT security attacks (e.g. DoS (Denial of Service) or SQL Injection) are introduced in combination with mechanisms that raise the IT security level of IT projects (e.g. cryptography, intrusion detection or authentication). In the practical exercises, which constitute the second part of the Internet Security VU lecture beside the theoretical lectures, different aspects of IT security are deepened and extended in 3 single and group tasks in our IT security lab infrastructure.
