After successful completion of the course, students are able to
- understand and apply different scientific paradigms and approaches- plan, conceptualize and conduct study designs in empirical evaluation research- successfully present research proposals- apply selected qualitative and quantitative research methods- research relevant scientific literature on a topic.
Introduction, basics and advanced aspects of empirical evaluation research methods in human-computer interaction. Participants will be enabled to plan empirical studies and to present the planned study in the form of a project proposal. Important topics covered in the course include the following:
Blocked workshops. Incremental creation and elaboration of a project proposal consisting of problem definition, expected result, hypotheses, methodology, and bibliography. Iterative feedback by the lecturers as well as a peer review. Final presentation.
