Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand the interdisciplinary challenge of developing and operating web applications and to take this challenge into account during implementation. The course gives an overview of current architecture and technology trends and imparts necessary knowledge for the development of web applications, such as web application frameworks, single sign-on protocols, user interface design, security and operation.

Subject of course

The course will discuss multiple topics, including:

  • Development of web applications (backend and frontend)
  • Use of frontend JavaScript frameworks
  • Integration of the HTML5 browser API
  • Integration of single sign-on protocols
  • Containter deployment (Docker)

Teaching methods

The lecture offers an overview of current trends and technologies in the field of Web Application Engineering. In the exercise, students develop a full-stack Web application with the technologies of their choice.

Examination modalities

Creation of a web application, the implementation is divided into several subtasks. The solution is discussed with the group in the delivery discussions and then graded. At the end of the semester there is a final test on the content of the lecture.
