Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to present and discuss questions, solutions, and results of their research work in the context of dissertations. They are able to present results in completed/ ongoing studies for doctoral theses.

Subject of course

  • Analyses of relevant scientific literature from the selected dissertation area and presentation of findings
  • Discussion of the task and scientific aspects of the topic of the dissertation.
  • Identification and discussion of problems and solution strategies while working on the dissertation.
  • Further focus: Publishing in the (technical) sciences.

Teaching methods

  • Scientific supervision and discussion of the work with the dissertation supervisor 
  • Presentation and discussion in the research group
  • Special emphasis on the presentation of the current state of the work and the problems that arise, discussion in the research group + experience reports of other dissertants.
