Aim of course

Learning the basic skills in methodical scientific working: * Knowledge about science practice * Ability to literature search, study, and citation of literature * Ability to retrieve information about a topic based on literature search and to produce a focused and well-structured report document about this topic * Ability to give a proper presentation on a given topic, using diverse presentation media

Subject of course

* Information retrieval and literature study on a selected topic * Writing a report about a selected topic * Presentation of the topic using a video beamer resp. other media * Reviewing of manuscripts * Discussion of contents and presentation style * Team Work Didactic concept: The writing and presentation of a scientific paper is directly exercised by the student at the example of the assigned topic. This encompasses the literature search (including the filtering of irrelevant/non-trustworthy sources), the concise and precise written summary, the reviewing procedure, as well as the oral presentation under given time constraints. Many topics are available for group work (related subjects pertaining to a common topic), which improves the teamworking skills. For every step the advisor provides guidance, additionally there are introductory lectures on "publishing" and "oral presentation".
