This course teaches the concepts on design and programming of distributed embedded systems.

The lecture Embedded Systems Engineering treats design and implementation of embedded systems. Focus is on concurrency and real-time aspects and communication in distributed systems. The lecture is held together with the lab course Embedded Systems Engineering. The objective of this lecture is to deliver multiple views on the topic of Embedded Systems as well as common sense knowledge about the practice and skills of an engineer. The lecture is held as a lecture series by the assistants for the department. One part of the lecture s topics is principal topics, which cover the technical background of the accompanying lab course and development methods, and the other part is additional topics, which reflect current trends in the field according to the principle of research-driven teaching. Die Lehrveranstaltung Embedded Systems Engineering ist Pflichtfach im Bakkalaureatsstudium "Technische Informatik" (ab WS'06), sowie Wahlfach in den Bakkalaureats-Studien "Software Engineering", "Data Engineering and Statistics" und "Medizinische Informatik". Sie ist außerdem Wahlfach im Magisterstudium "Technische Informatik".
