Aim of course

This course permits first steps in own scientific work on the theory of fault-tolerant distributed algorithms. Based upon a (self-assigned) publication on some suitable topic in this field, a short paper shall be written and presented twice during the semester. In addition, the course is also an excellent opportunity to get in touch with our research projects, thereby preparing the grounds for conducting practicals, diploma thesises and dissertations later on.

Subject of course

Possible topics (selection): Hybrid failure models, partially synchronous system models, self-stabilizing distributed algorithms; real-time scheduling; topology control and routing in dependable wireless networks

Particularly recommended if participation in the ECS group's research projects is considered.

Writing of a short scientific paper + presentation devoted to some individually assigned scientific topic. For attendance, a grade for any "AK XXX", "Seminar XXX" or similar can be obtained (per semester).
