After successful completion of the course, students are able to

• submit the Master thesis proposal, which motivates and defines the topic of their thesis, introduces the planned research questions and aims of the thesis, describes the methodology, presents the state of the art, and places their thesis in the context of the Master program Software Engineering and Internet Computing,
• give a scientific presentation on the results of their Master thesis.

This seminar involves the following tasks:

1. Submission of a written Master thesis proposal (in English) agreed upon with the thesis supervisor.
2. Presentation and discussion of the Master thesis proposal (10 min presentation in English + 5 min discussion). Based on the received feedback, students should be able to develop a sound and coherent proposal (Diplomarbeitsanmeldung) of their Master thesis.
3. Presentation of the most important results of the Master thesis (20 min presentation + 10 min discussion). After this presentation, using the received feedback, students should be able to prepare a convincing presentation to be given in their Master thesis defense.

The seminar will consist of individual meetings between students and their thesis supervisors. 

Further, students will give online presentations in the seminar, presenting plans for their Master thesis, and receive written feedback on their submitted thesis proposals. These presentations are meant to train and support students in revising their Master thesis proposals. Based on the received feedback, students should finalize their Master thesis proposal. This final proposal should be submitted to the deans of study (online, following our faculty requirements), as a first step towards completing their Master thesis.

Finally, once the planned Master thesis work is completed, students are expected to present their Master thesis in the research group/unit of their supervisor. This presentation should serve as a dry run for the students' upcoming Master thesis defense. 

Important requirements:

• Attendance of the kick-off meeting is required.
• Register for only 1 presentation day in TUWEL. Before registering, ensure that the thesis topic, scope, and planned content are clear and approved by your thesis supervisor.
• Submit your thesis proposal, final slides, and a form signed by your supervisor at the latest 2 days before your presentation.
