After successful completion of the course, students are able to discuss and explain basic concepts and connections of the human immune system (see contents). Further, the students will be able to independetly read, understand, and critically evaluate advanced literature in immunology.
For this seminar, information packages will be provided to the students who will go through the topics intially independently. The topics will then be reviewed in a guided group discussion and im promptu mini-presentations, in order to strengthen the core concepts and highlight important connections. In this seminar, no front-of-class teaching will be offered by design.
Please note the maximal number of participants.
At the beginning of each unit, the content of the last unit will be quizzed in a short test (5 questions, 15 min). A point will be awarded for each correctly answered question. The total amount of all points throughout the semester (max. 40 points) will be used to determine a partial grade (min. 21 points - genügend, min. 26 points - befriedigend, min. 31 points - gut, min. 36 points - sehr gut). If less than 21 points are scored, the seminar will not be successfully completed. For students with minimum 21 points, the participation (during group discussions and the quality of mini-presentations) will be considered for determining the final grade (60% minitests, 40% participation).
The particpiants will be selected according to their studies (chemists favored) and study progress (amount of ECTS), due to the participant limitation and the type of lecture.
