After successful completion of the course, students are able to operate in the microscopical everyday life a brightfield-, darkfield-, UV-, phase-contrast-, polarizing-, interference-contrast- or fluorescence microscope as a result of the basic knowledge teached and the possibility of a practical training.
Theory of light microscopy: Basics of geometrical and wave optics; resolution. Practical microscopy: Transmitted/reflected light microscopy; lateral measurements and counting methods; darkfield-, UV- and phase contrast microscopy; polarisation-, interference-, fluorescence microscopy; sample preparation; histochemistry.
Image analysis and processing: The students may work with new image analysis systems in module construction (SIS Analysis; ZEN); Extended Focal Imaging; Multiple Image Alignment; 3D-images; measurement of object structures; detection of particles; archiving pictures. Picture optmization by means of modern software (Adobe Photoshop, Irfan View, Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8).

In the course of the LVA students are confronted repeatedly with PowerPoint slides to examine the understanding for the given subject matter.
Anmeldung über das TISS; die Anmeldedetails sind dem TISS zu entnehmen.
