Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able  to actively discuss the topic of resource management. The students can name the most important European guidelines. Furthermore, the students are able to define critical raw materials.

Subject of course

The lecture gives an overview of the current status of waste management in the European Union. Current European Directives and upcoming development towards resource management are presented. Subsequently, the topic of critical raw materials, which are essential for European industry, will be discussed. Practical examples from the field of recycling round off this course.

Discussion of case studies from recycling and recovery.
