2020W, VO, 2.0h, 3.0EC

Properties

  • Semester hours: 2.0
  • Credits: 3.0
  • Type: VO Lecture
  • Format: Online

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to:

  • analyse and categorize scopes and limitations of the industrial applicability of membrane separation processes,
  • apply the special design and calculation methods of individual process parameters for technically and economically relevant membran separation processes,
  • perform the basic engineering of membrane separation processes,
  • achieve a deepened competence for the process design through the offered training on selected exercises.

Subject of course

Basics of membrane separation processes; mass transfer models; general apsects of membrane, module and process design; industrially important separations (reverse osmosis, nanofiltration, ultrafiltration, microfiltration, gas permeation, electrodialysis and others); process design approaches; case studies.

Teaching methods

Course as a distance learning event - Introduction about membrane separation processes, overview on methods for the calculation of membrane mass transfer, calculation and discussion of specific exercises
