After successful completion of the course, students are able to:
- present the importance of the field of applied bioinformatics for the era of biotechnology and life sciences.
- explain the essential tasks and applied tools/strategies in the analysis of DNA, RNA and protein sequences.
- explain important bioinformatic databases and their architecture.
- Introduction to Bioinformatics.
- Bioinformatic Servers and Databases
- Statistical basics of bioinformatics.
- Tools and algorithms for finding DNA, RNA and protein sequence similarities.
- Introduction to applied bioinformatics of the genome, transcriptome, proteome and metagenome.
- Models for molecular evolution and their calculation
The focus of the lecture is on developing the theoretical knowledge for the correct application of bioinformatic tools and programs.
