Sterile handling and basic microbiological techniques. Recombinant production of an enzyme in fermentation, its purification and kinetic characterization. Analysis of the production strain by PCR. Transport processes in microorganisms.
Registration for the courses starts with 27.08.2018 (08.00) via TISS and ends on the 28.09.2018 (18.00).
Registration for the courses depends on the positive passing of the lecture Biochemistry I. Due to limited resources it may be necessary to rank the number of registered students.
The first criterion for this ranking is the positive passing of the exam Mathematik für TCH I (104.084). The date of the exam and the mark is no criterion.
The second criterion will be the date of the passing of the lecture Biochemistry I (172.695)
The third criterion is the mark of the lecture Biochemistry I (172.695).
The fourth criterion is the registration date for the lab
Students which have passed Mathematik für Technische Chemie I and Biochemie I can register directly via TISS. All students which have not passed the lecture Mathematik für Technische Chemie I but passed the lecture Biochemie I, cannot register directly via TISS. For their registration it is necessary to send me their certificate that they passed Biochemie 1 per email (to: bernhard.seiboth@tuwien.ac.at). Please indicate the course number in which you want to participate and all alternative courses in case this course is overbooked. The final assignment to the lab course will follow end of September.
For all courses a compulsory general meeting will take place on the 1st of October at 8.30 in the Radingerhörsaal.
Before the course a written exam will take place. The content of the exam is the theory and the practical part of the course. The respective course scripts will be provided online in TISS by the beginning of September.
Start of the course is in the students lab in the BH building on the ground floor. Details are found in TISS in September.
For questions please contact Univ. Ass. Dr Bernhard Seiboth preferably per email.
Written exam at the beginning of the course, performance in the lab course, delivery of a protocol for the individual parts of the course.
The student must have at least 2 of the course(s) completed listed below:
Lecture notes for this course are available. Contents and practical performance is described in the pdf-file, which will be uploaded to TISS by the beginning of october. The theoretical background can be retrieved from the basic lectures "Biochemistry 1", "Biochemistry Proseminar" and "Introduction to Biotechnology and Bioengineering"
A positive exam about "Biochemistry I" is an essential prerequisite for registration to the course. To attend the course the positive passing of a written exam about the content and background of the individual course examples is a prerequiste.
We further strongly recommend also to obtain a positive exam about "Introduction to Biotechnology and Bioengineering" and "Biochemistry Proseminar" before this lab.
