After successful completion of the course, students are able to:
- carry out the basic rules of good microbiological laboratory practice (GLP) independently and to apply the essential safety aspects when working with microorganisms.
- carry out important microbiological laboratory techniques for eukaryotic and prokaryotic microorganisms.
- outline and analyze the most important steps in microbiological laboratory investigations and experiments.
- Introduction to Good Laboratory Pratice (GLP)
- Basic terms of microbiological practice (sterility, disinfection, aseptic work, safety classifications, etc..)
- Cultivation and isolation of prokaryotes (bacteria) and eukaryotes (fungi)
- qualitative and quantitative strategies for the analysis of microorganisms from environmental samples (cultivation vs. molecur detection of biomolecules vs. cell detection)
- Preservation and transfer of pure cultures
- Teaching of methods based on application-related examples (degradation of biopolymers, determination of bathing- and drinking water quality)
- short introductions, tutorials, demonstrations, discussions
- lab exercises and practical training
- evaluation and interpretation of laboratory results
- preparaton of a lab protocol
The course takes place in January 2020.
- lab protocoll
- cooperation during the course
Für die Teilnahme an den Laborübungen Mikrobiologie gelten folgende Voraussetzungen:
- Studienkennzahl Masterstudium
- Erstbesuch des Praktikums
- Reihung nach Anmeldedatum
Lecture notes for this course are available and will be provided on TISS. Notes have to be brought along to the course. During the lab, the course advisors will present their exercise and discuss its preformance with the students.
