After successful completion of the course, students are able to practically implement the teaching contents of laboratory equipment theoretically conveyed in the lectures (chemical VT, mechanical VT, thermal VT) together with the supervisors in order, inter alia, to determine characteristic values that are necessary for the design of large-scale industrial plants.
Using different kinds of comminution machines granular respectively fibrous materials are grinded. Afterwards the particle (resp. fibre) collective is classified by an air separator. Finally the particle (resp. fibre) size distribution is analyzed by optical and gravimetric measuring devices. The separation efficiency of textile filter media for e.g. bag house filters is investigated by special filter test rigs. Furthermore the selectivity and permeability of different membranes are determined by special test equipments.
Together with the supervisors, the instructional contents imparted in the lectures will be put to practical use on lab-scale exercise equipment.
