After successful completion of the course, students are able to compare different techniques of dust separation, such as gravity separators, impact separators, centrifugal separators, filtering separators, electrostatic precipitators and wash-separators, to use them correctly and to design them procedurally
Increasing technical demands, combined with a more stringent legislation in environmental protection have forced considerable improvement in the separation of fine particles from gases. In this lecture the basic dust properties in conection to their separation behaviour will explained. Further different technical possibilities for separation of fine dust particles from waste gases (cyclones, filtering dust separators, electrostatic precipitators, wet scrubbers) will be given.

As part of the online exam, ten multiple choice questions must be answered within 60 minutes. Each of the ten questions is worth 10 points. At least one answer is correct for each question. The maximum total score is 100 points. The total number of points will be announced immediately after the end of the multiple choice test. All documents (incl. internet) may be used.
