Aim of course

Application of Basic knowledge in Chemical Process Engineering

Subject of course

Definition of basic terms used in Chemical Process Engineering, reaction analysis - classification of reactions, preparation of material and energy balances, introduction to reactor design, single ideal reactors (stirred tank reactor, continuous stirred tank reactor, plug flow reactor), design for single reactions, performance comparison, multiple-reactor systems (reactors in series and or in parallel, mixed reactors in series, recycle reactor), laboratory methods to determine kinetic data (analysis of the complete rate equation, differential and integral method), residence time distribution of fluid in chemical reactors (age distribution of fluid leaving a reactor, F-curve), real reactor models, dispersion model, tanks in series model, multi parameter models, energy balances for isothermal and adiabatic operations in ideal reactors (adiabatic temperature, unstable state, point of ignition).
