After successful completion of the course, students are able to apply the discussed topics in an independent and sustainable manner, in order to solve fundamental and technological problems in research.
1. Quantum mechanics in chemistry: Schrödinger equation, electronic structure in atoms (periodic table), molecules and solids, covalent chemical bond
2. Fundamentals of electron spectroscopy, application for molecular and solid state analysis
3. Statistical thermodynamics: Boltzmann-, Fermi-Dirac-, and Bose-Einstein statistics, determination of thermodynamic state functions via quantum-chemical calculations.
4. Electrochemistry: participation of electrically charged particles in the chemical equilibrium and chemical reactions, electro-chemical cells, structure of electrolyte solutions, ideal and real electrolyte solutions
