After successful completion of the course, students are able to identify key contexts and principles in nanochemistry, explain the impact of "nano" on properties and structures of nanomaterials, draw structures of nanocarbons, indentify and predict functional properties, and reconstruct important synthetic routes.
Physical origin of nano-effects: quantum and surface effects Elektrical, magnetic and optical properties of nanomaterials Synthesis, structures and chemicla/physical modification of nanotubes, ultra-thin films, mesoporous materials, quantum dots, nanocomposites, etc. Influence of surface groups on the properties of nanomaterials Photolithographic methods for nanostructuring Phase-separated polymers Self-assembly by chemical interactions (surface-functionalization, self-assembled monolayers, Langmuir-Blodgett techniques etc.)
