164.346 Condition monitoring - the lubricant as data carrier
This course is in all assigned curricula part of the STEOP.
This course is in at least 1 assigned curriculum part of the STEOP.

2019S, VO, 1.0h, 1.5EC

Properties

  • Semester hours: 1.0
  • Credits: 1.5
  • Type: VO Lecture

Aim of course

Application of analytical methods to describe the "health status" of lubricants and lubricated systems; insight into lubricant condition monitoring using laboratory methods and online sensor systems; application of knowledge in chemistry, mechanical engineering and measuring technology to use the lubricant as information carrier.

Subject of course

Requirements and composition of lubricants; ageing of lubricants during use; importance of condition monitoring; methods of condition monitoring (lubricant analysis using conventional, statistical and mass spectrometric methods), case studies for condition monitoring (interpretation of analytical reports, causes of machine damage, clarification of lubricant degradation mechanisms), trends in condition monitoring (online sensor systems).

Additional information

Starting date is the 6th March 2019 at 4 pm (exactly) in the seminar room BB 01 Q17 (1st floor) of E164.
