After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand chemical reactions and chemical equilibra (acid/base, redox, precipitation and complexation) and to use these for the purpose of separating and identifying cations and anions in aqueous solutions.
Introduction to the cation separation scheme and the relevant identification reactions. Identification of cations and anions based on the cation separation scheme and individual ion tests exemplified by the analysis of soluble pure compounds, and multi-component mixtures of increasing complexity.
Practical and independent work in the chemcial laboratory under supervision of assitants and tutors.
In response to the low expected number of participants and in order to reserve January 2023 for a possible repetition of the Quanntitative Analytical Lboratory, the next course of the Qualitative Analytical Lab Course will be held only in the summer semester 2023 (May and June) with up to 60 participants capacity each.
Grading according to the success of the practical work, the introductory test and the overall impression based on the regular supervision.
