After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand the theoretical foundations, the instrumental realisation and the underlying workflows of organic and inorganic environmental analysis. They acquire a deepened understanding of trace analytical methods for the analysis of organic and inorganic contaminants in the environment. Based on selected examples from the field of environmental analysis, they discuss strategies of sampling, sample preparation and finally instrumental analysis.
Introductory considerations. Sample preparation strategies for solid an liquid samples and the analytes contained in these matrices. Introduction and discussion of relevant concepts that are tailored to the particular demand and respond to specific analytes, matrices, ranges of concentration and complexity of sample, accompanied by eventual economic and organisational conditions.
