Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to explain the most important ionization methods (EI, CI, ESI, MALDI, APCI, APPI) and mass analyzers (Q, QqQ, Iontrap, ToF, ICR, Ion Mobility) used for organic chemistry and name typical fields applications. 

Subject of course

  • Principles and Mechanisms of hard and soft ionization techniques
  • Principles and capabilities of mass analyzers (low / high resolution mass analyzers)
  • Tandem and multistage mass spectrometer
  • Application of the methods to questions in the field of organic mass spectrometry (for example, polymers, natural products, medicines, etc.)
