Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to synthesize special materials, to describe them and to explain these works in a final presentation. The students are able to use the necessary equipment for material synthesis and material analysis independently and to judge their experiments.

Subject of course

Manufacturing of starting materials; consolidation (pressing, hot pressing, sintering, extrsion); secondary operations (heat treatment, coating, machining, ..). Metallographic and structural chraacterization, chemical analysis (bulk, surfaces). Mechanical testing, electrical,  electrochemical and chemical properties, thermal analysis, fractography

Teaching methods

The tasks created by the respective supervisors are processed in small groups, the results are analyzed and summarized in a log. At the end a presentation (15 min) will take place in front of the colleagues and the supervisors.
