After successful completion of the course, students are able to describe the sample preparation of biological material, to contrast protein, carbohydrate and lipid analysis as well as to summarise analysis of important PTMs.

• Sample preparation of biological material (cell disintegration, isolation and purification of biopolymers, labeling and derivatization methods)
• protein analysis (amino acid analysis, protein determination methods, protein sequencing)
• carbohydrate analysis (mono-, oligo- and polysaccharides)
• lipid analysis (extraction, separation, ...)
• analysis of important PTMs (phosphorylation, glycosylation, acylation, acetylation, ...)
