Properties

  • Semester hours: 2.0
  • Credits: 3.0
  • Type: VU Lecture and Exercise

Aim of course

Impart knowledge of the most important methods in thermal analysis, their applications and limits

Subject of course

Basics of the most important thermal anaylsis-techniques (TA, DTA, DSC, TG, TMA, EGA). Demonstrating the application of the methods by means of different material groups and different temperature ranges - assisted by selected experiments and additional techniques like metallography and hardness measurements.  Discussion of the limits and possible errors of the techniques. Special technology like thermooptical analysis, thermo-microscopy, thermo-photometry, thermo-magnetometry, thermo-electrometry and thermo-sonimetry are discussed as well.
