After successful completion of the course, students are able to apply different wet chemical analysis principles (gravimetric and volumetric analyses) and perform simple spectroscopic measurements (Flame-Emission-Spectroscopy, UV-VIS Spectroscopy, Fluorescence Spectroscopy).
Quantitative analyses and statistical data evaluation of different samples using wet chemical analysis principles: Gravimetry: quantitative analysis of Nickel and Iron by precipitation analysis Volumetric analyses: Acid/base titration: Kjehldal analysis, Oxidimetry: quantitative analysis of chromate, complexometric titration: quantitative analysis of Ca and Mg Flame-Emission-Spectroscopy: quantitative analysis of alkaline ions in mineral water UV-VIS Spectroscopy: quantitative Protein-Analysis
Practical exercises in the field of quantitative wet chemical analysis including a discussion of exercise content prior to practical work. Preparation of a report for each exercise.
The laboratory courses will be held in the winter semester 2019 in two runs with a maximum of 60 participants per course. On the last friday before the start of the practical work, the inventory of the laboratory place has to be taken over, and introductory course instructions are given during which the attendence is compulsory.
1st Course: Introduction: Friday, 11.10.2019, 12 to 18 pm Vortmann lecture room (Participation compulsory!) The working time for the laboratory is 12:30 - 17:30 during Tuesday, 15.10. - Thursday, 05.11.2019 in the students' laboratory 5th floor. Return of the laboratory place on Wednesday 06.11 or Thursday 07.11.2019
2nd Course: Introduction: Friday, 08.11.2019, 12 to 18 pm Vortmann lecture room (Participation compulsory!) The working time for the laboratory is 12:30 - 17:30 during Tuesday, 12.11. - Tuesday, 03.12.2019 in the students' laboratory 5th floor. Return of the laboratory place on Wednesday 04.12 or Thursday 05.12.2019
Exams and protocolls
The student must have at least all of the course(s) completed listed below:
Lecture notes for this course are available.
The positive exam on the lecture course "Analytical Chemistry I" (164.053) is compulsory to be admitted to this lab course.
