Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand the thermodynamics of real solid materials and kinetic processes in solids. Based on this e.g. electrical properties of solids are derived.

Subject of course

phase, phase diagram, phase rule, thermodynamic principles, mixtures, important phase diagrams and alloys systems, learning ability to apply the acquired knowledge for materials in use, and their processing, thermodynamics of ionic and electronic defects, defect chemical reactions kinetics in crystalline solids: mass and charge transport, diffusion, permeation, electric current, kinetics of solid-state reactions, surface reactions
