After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand the chemical and physical concepts behind the properties of advanced ceramics and they can discuss what makes a material best suited for certain applications. Moreover, the most important tools for characterization and processing of ceramics can be transferred to real cases.
Teil I (together with part I of Ceramic and metallic materials) J. Fleig , 2SWS:
- Introduction, definition of advanced ceramics
- Important ceramics (Al2O3, ZrO2, ZnO, PZT, BaTiO3, Ferrite, SiC, AlN, etc.)
- Structure property relations and importance of defects
- Properties (electrical, dielectric, thermal, mechanical) and their applications
Part II, M. Weil (1 SWS)
- Characteriaztion of ceramics
- Processing of ceramics
Lecture, primarily written onto the blackboard (part I) or in powerpoint (part II), taught in German
Teil 1: Absolvierung einer schriftlichen Prüfung (Dauer 2 Stunden) WS 2023 in Präsenz. Bei der Prüfung sind keine Hilfsmittel erlaubt
Teil 2: Mündliche Prüfung nach Absprache
