After successful completion of the course, students are able to describe the polymerchemical principles of polymeric biomaterials, to discuss the properties of polymers on the basis of their composition/constitution and the rationalize their application in different scenarios.
The lecture devides into two parts, where the Chemistry and the biological applicaion of polymeric biomaterials are treated. In the part "Chemistry", the chapters "Polymer Chemistry Basics", "Polymeric Biomaterials", "Chemical Processes at the Biointerface" and "Chemistry of Polymer Processing"; in the part "Biology", "Pharmaceutical applications", "Implants and Medical Devices", and "Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine" are treated.
After an introduction into the polymerchemical basics, different polymeric biomaterials, their chemical composition/constitution and the according biological function will be discussed and consequently their application will be descibed.
TUWEL course will be announced timely (lecture material, lecture-on-demand, etc.)!
Subcription to the TUWEL course (E-Learning) is mandatory!
