Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to carry out literature searches on their own. They have developed an appreciation that a given research field has its own peculiarity and requires special search methods and literature sources, i.e. that there is no one-for-all solution for literature, but that a search method has to be adapted according to the given field and search problem.

SciFinder, Reaxys, patent search, Scopus, PubMed, Google Scholar, databases, norm, etc.

Teaching methods

The search methods will be demonstrated in the lecture at first. Here, students are asked to bring a laptop/tablet to follow the demonstration hands on already during the lecture. Via search tasks as homework the knowledge about the methods are depend, results are discussed in the next lecture unit.
