Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to apply advanced methods in NMR spectroscopy and by these means solve complex problems in the structural elucidation of organic molecules.

Subject of course

Advanced NMR methods (gradient NMR spectroscopy, inverse methods, ...); 2D NMR; Rotating Frame Model.

Elucidation of medium complex chemical structures (constitution, configuration, sterical aspects) from 1D and 2D NMR data sets (1D 1H, 13C, NOE difference; 2D COSY, NOESY, HSQC, HMBC).

Teaching methods

Presentation of theoretical aspects by the lecturer, joint solving of one specific example, solving of several examples by the students on their own.
